Pan-Malayan Pharmaceuticals was started back in 1940's by the late Mr. Tay Teng Pin as a family-owned pharmaceutical wholesaler in Singapore. It was among the first few locally-established pharmaceutical companies then. Over the years, it has evolved into a full-service company specializing in sales and marketing of innovative human health care products.

Since 1998, the present management under Mr. Lim See Wah has transformed Pan-Malayan into a professionally-managed organization with a strong sales and marketing network in Singapore. In 2002, Mr. Lim successfully led the acquisition of Hyphens.

Today, Hyphens and Pan-Malayan exist as two separate legal entities but function as one business unit. Locally, we operate under the name Pan-Malayan Pharmaceuticals but we are known as Hyphens Pharma outside of Singapore.

According to Espicom Business Intelligence's estimates in 2008, the Singaporean pharmaceuticals market is forecasted to reach US$838 million by 2013, equal to US$175 per capita.

Sales & Marketing
The company places great emphasis in sales and marketing. Today, the sales force is comprised of professional and experienced sales personnel, supported by regional managers in marketing and product management. The team covers all restructured and private hospitals, private specialists, general practitioners as well as retail and hospital pharmacies.

We focus mainly on ethical medicines and work closely with specialists in allergy & ENT, gastroenterology, OB/GYN, ophthalmology, pediatrics and rheumatology. In addition, we have retail channels to reach out to a larger customer base.

Wholesale & Distribution
In Singapore, we have established distribution channels to all market segments. Through our ability to engage with various suppliers and provide efficient, safe and trustworthy supply chain management, we have forged and grown close rapport with our valued customers.

We function as a supply chain alliance for companies who are interested to leverage on our capabilities and competence without heavy investment in infrastructure. Recognizing our strength in the market, some principals such as Nestle, Novartis and Optopharm have entered into contractual relationships with us.

In June 2001, we established our integrated online product search and ordering portal at www.pom.com.sg. It is a secured and convenient means for registered clinics and pharmacies to browse our products, request for an immediate quotation and finally place an online order. With increasing broadband availability in clinics and pharmacies, it is an expandable platform with untapped opportunity and growth in the near future.

In addition, we continually improve operational efficiencies and expand various value-add services:

•	One-stop convenience offering a comprehensive range of branded pharmaceuticals, health-related products and consumables.
•	Efficient in logistics and delivery operation.
•	Cost-effective by minimizing customers’ inventory-holding and timely deliveries.
